Stopped off for a pint after doing lots of walking. Quiet inside, clearly a regulars bar. It has that feel of regulars not tourist walk ins. Friendly welcome. Super clean on the inside. Seats tables and floor much cleaner than some of the bigger pubs we'd been in. Had the Caledonia beer. It was thirst quenching and tasty. We've been at the bottom of Byers Rd many times but first visit in the Dolphin. Will have no problem going back in again.
Met friends for a few drinks getting off subway. Lovely friendly pub. Found myself chatting away to everyone in the pub. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks.
Great friendly Bar with good atmosphere. Always a lovely fresh pint. I must comment on Gordon Mellin's review. It was 12:40 on a Sunday when i observed Gordon verbally abused the bar man and was asked to leave. He then challenged the Bar man "to step outside" .........
Read a few reviews about this being a "regulars only orientated" bar.. safe to say, having been in for a lovely pint today I object to that, the barman was spot on and offered a friendly welcome to everyone that walked in, myself as a visitor from Newcastle for the day and regulars alike. Very very reasonable, lovely pints and a superb collection of Whisky. Lovely to get to see a proper local bar on my travels. Would love to return
Great pub, smashin pint of Guinness reasonable price, pleasant staff, decent music .
Popped into here on a Sunday afternoon for a couple before heading back into central for our train back south. Not sure where all the reviews about “only being for locals” have come from. A lovely old fashioned pub and I was served with no hassle despite quite clearly not being a local. Cheap too!
Another cracking pub for a night out with the lads, although Barney wasn't so sure about the decor
Great bar in the west end, traditional and welcoming, nice atmosphere, loads of Celtic photos to look at and live music on a Saturday night. Older crowd but everyone was welcome coming through the door, my dad would laugh as he supports rangers.
